Between dolphins, manatees and sea lions

However, it goes far beyond that! What it really means to be a Specialist in Marine Mammals is to devote oneself in soul and body to these species; to love them, to take care of them and to protect them, to be aware of them every single day. This is a new responsibility as you are making a vow to take care of a new whole marine mammal family.

Without a doubt, being a Marine Mammal Specialist means having the best job in the world! Due to this, one comes to interact with the most intelligent and beautiful creature on the planet: dolphins. You also know the funniest and most hilarious mammals: sea lions. Finally, you will find ancient mermaids: the manatees.

This is not an ordinary job, one has to play with them all day, protect them at all times and create bonds of trust and love. A job opportunity that surely does not show up every day!

By creating a bond with the marine mammals, you get to know each one of them; from the smallest to the largest. Dolphins are easy to differentiate between them since each one has something that defines them, be it a mole, eyes or some birthmark.

The love of the marine specialist for the dolphin

For example, Picasso, the alpha male of Dolphin Discovery Isla Mujeres habitat, got that name because of its beautiful freckles that are distributed along its belly.

On the other hand, we have Zazu, the largest sea lion on the island, who one day found a watch hidden in the sand under the sea. He raised it to the surface as if it was a hoop and began to play with it. Everyone, guests and marine mammals specialists, were surprised as they had never seen that behavior before! It is one of our favorite stories.
