The International Marine Animal Trainers’ Association is dedicated to the handling and good care of marine animals by fostering communication and cooperation between professionals from nursing, conservation, research, education, to training of these species.
Trainers and staff working at dolphinariums, aquariums and labs must have a great interaction among them, with animals under their care, with the community where they live or work and with the public which they are responsible for. The encouragement strength and the sense of responsibility are both qualities that the association and its member must aspire to and demonstrate in any place, according to knowledge, logics and morality principles.
IMATA offers its members an exchange of knowledge resources as surveys, monthly news, articles, research results, training techniques and social and professional adjustments. It also organizes an Annual Symposium where these subjects are presented in different parts of the world.
The goal is to create a community that shares the Association aspirations based on the professional code of ethics, to achieve a better handle and care towards marine mammals in their habitat. Besides, it fosters staff training to make them act as ambassadors of the marine community at a national level.
· Proving professional integrity as members of the marine association as representatives of the facilities.
· Fostering respect, comprehension and cooperation among members of the association and other members of the marine communities.
· Enhancing interest from community and members of the association, accepting the requested obligations according to their own capacities.
