Chankanaab Park in Cozumel

Chankanaab Park is located on the island of Cozumel, Mexico. Being this park the most important on the island for its cultural value and importance to the natives; since 1.980, it was decreed as a national park by the state government because it is an area where abundant marine flora and fauna by the coral reef found there.

The word Chankanaab comes from the Mayan language, Chan means small, and Kanaab means sea, so the full name would be the small sea; this name is given because, inside the park, there is a small lagoon that bears that name.

How to get to Chankanaab Park?

You have different options to get there; you can take a taxi from any point in the city or rent a car to tour the island and visit Chankanaab Park. The park has ample parking so there would be no problem if you arrive in a rented car. We recommend that you come with a reservation previously made because although you can buy it directly at the park if the day is already full, there will be no way they can sell you.
