Legislation and non-prohibition is the proposal of our director
Roberto Sanchez Okrucky who is our Veterinary Director at Dolphin Discovery, wrote an article for LatinZoo magazine (a spanish written magazine) where he speaks about the strong tide in favor of animal welfare.
He talks about human / animal coexistence and explains that specialists such as veterinarians, biologists, ecologists, ethologists, among others, seek a healthy and coherent relationship with animals.
Sadly our fellow politicians and activists are not always in favor when in comes to these articles or publishings. 😥Â
We always welcome different points of views, ideologies and/or opinions on the matter because topics like these are what can spark a great conversation with our guest, and people interested in diving a bit deeper into this topic.
In his writing Dr. Okrucky writes and proposes a Legislation and non-prohibition, and says that the laws at hand are not well planned nor executed. This results in harm to the animals that since the very beginning are sought to be protected.
A clear example in regards to this topic is that of circus animals. Though there may be some exceptions, the newly approved law at the time which led animals to be taken out of circuses and relocated in different zoos and conservation centers ended in abandonment in many cases causing their death.
With the proper research, participation of experts in the field and a balanced panorama we strongly believe that laws could be created. Laws that would ultimately benefit these beautiful animals and improve their living conditions. From an educative approach, the core interest is really in the conservation of the animals and their well being.
At Dolphin Discovery our constant goal is and will be to educate in the most transparent and fun way, making sure these mammals are happy and in the most optimal living conditions!
