Dolphin Discovery’s “Miracle” Animal Reproduction Program a Success in 2012

Dolphin Discovery Riviera Maya is proud to announce  the birth of a dolphin of mama “Regina”. 18 year old Regina is a large female, known for her strength and for her dominant character. She was very protective with her first offspring born in 2010, “Eddie”, who now lives in Dolphin Discovery Costa Maya. We still do not know the gender of the newborn but it is healthy and thriving close to mama’s side. Regina is sure to be a great mother to our latest dolphin family member!

With this last birth of 2012, Dolphin Discovery is thrilled with another successful year of the “Miracle” reproduction program. This year we were blessed with the birth of 8 newborn dolphins, 3 in Puerto Aventuras, 2 in Isla Mujeres, 1 in Cozumel, 1 in Tortola and 1 in Los Cabos! We also welcomed a newborn manatee to Puerto Aventuras, a species that is considered to be endangered and the birth of one is a great source of pride for our team. Our reproduction program ensures the highest quality care for our pregnant moms and 24 hour monitoring of the newborns. Our team of veterinarians, biologists and trainers are completely devoted to the animals in their care and are experts in the field of reproductive science in marine mammals.

Congratulations to Regina and a hearty “congratulations and thank you” to our “Miracle” team who worked so hard this year in providing the very best care to all the marine mammals in their charge.
