world animal day

World Animal Day is, without a doubt, one of the most important dates as it commemorates the fight against animal cruelty, especially in our times, where animals continue to suffer from mistreatment and poaching, causing the extinction of some species.

Do you know when World Animal Day is celebrated?

World Animal Day has been celebrated on October 4 every year since 1929, in commemoration of Saint Francis of Assisi, one of the main defenders of animal rights.

For this reason, the World Organization for Animal Protection promoted this date to defend animals and reduce the extinction of 40% of endangered species.

Some of the initiatives that are promoted by this organization include:

At Dolphin Discovery, We Care For Our Species

At Dolphin Discovery, we are firmly committed to animal protection, and that is why we also commemorate this special date.

The species under the human care of Dolphin Discovery receive all the love and care of our Marine Specialists and Veterinarians, which is why we have created mixed programs and activities that will inspire you to preserve the animals’ lives.

Some of these activities are:

Dolphin Discovery Marine Mammal Care and Protection Programs

The most beloved Marine species inhabit in the Dolphin Discovery world and for this reason, we want to share with you that we have created multifarious programs for the care and preservation of animals’ lives. Do you want to know more about them?

Miracle Breeding Program

With the Miracle breeding Program at Dolphin Discovery, we protect the life of our Marine Species during the various stages of reproduction, such as pregnancy, birth, and the lactation period.

This incredible program was created 15 years ago, and since then, our expert marine specialists have managed to preserve the lives of more than 200 dolphins under human care.

Additionally, the Dolphin Discovery Dolphin Habitats located around the world are also research centers where we have learned to take care of marine species, learn about their habits and provide them with the preventive medicine they require in some instances to avoid diseases, as well as assist them medically when they arrive wounded at one of our Habitats.

“Dolphins Saving Oceans” Program

With this program, Dolphin Discovery provides guidance and pep talks to raise awareness about the care and preservation of the oceans.

As part of the program’s activities, periodic cleaning of beaches and mangroves is carried out, allowing the collection of more than 125 tons of garbage that did not end up in the sea.

Remember that keeping our oceans clean is everyone’s obligation as it is home to thousands of animal species that are of great importance to the marine ecosystem and the preservation of human life.

“AMHMAR”

For just over 20 years, Dolphin Discovery has been part of AMHMAR, a wonderful association that promotes the care of Marine Mammals and their natural Habitats and those where these intelligent species live under human care.

AMHMAR, which sounds like the Spanish word “Amar” which translates as “love”, means “Mexican Association of Habitats for the Interaction and Protection of Marine Mammals” and which has established various commitments in support of manifold Habitats of Marine Species in Mexico such as Dolphin Discovery. This is why for Dolphin Discovery, AMHMAR means “caring is loving our animals.”

Among the commitments this association has established, include:

Join us in commemorating World Animal Day every day by taking care of your pets, not mistreating the strays, and keeping your house and streets clean; if possible, support beach cleanup campaigns if you live in a coast city!
